JBPL successfully helped to secure another phase of development at Taylor Wimpey’s Northfield View site, which is located on the western edge of the town of Stowmarket in Suffolk. The application went before a Mid Suffolk District Council Planning Committee on 17th of March 2021, where it received a unanimous vote in favour of the scheme.
The “Phase 2B” Reserved Matters application was for 100 dwellings, which included 20% affordable housing; strategic landscaping; and public open space. It has been described as an important ‘connecting phase’, which not only provides an important link between existing and future phases but also starts to fill in some of the housing development around the infrastructure Taylor Wimpey have already provided on the site.
Northfield View remains a strategically important site for both Mid Suffolk and Taylor Wimpey. It has long been identified as an area for housing growth at Stowmarket, the principal town within the District, and it continues to feature within both existing and emerging planning policy documents.
At the same time, it continues to be a successful delivering site for Taylor Wimpey, and it is being brought forward in a careful and sensitive manner over a series of phases, with Phase 2b being no exception.
